Jan. 27 @ The Starry Plough; Berkeley, CA; Sat., 8:30 pm
Opening up for Caitlyn Plankton and Squeakie. I’ve played open mics and Irish sessions and bluegrass jams at the Starry Plough, but this is my first bonafide gig at this venue. Looking forward to it.

NOSTALGIA BIN / PAST SHOWS

2023

Oct. 21 @ HopMonk Novato; Novato, CA; Sat., 12:30 pm - 2:30
I spent many a teenage night in Palo Alto drinking Gordon Biersch’s lovely Marzen, courtesy of my buddy Boris stealing his dad’s beer and picking me up in his long bed 1981 Toyota long bed pickup with an odometer clocking over 200,000 miles. Why is this relevant? Well, HopMonk was founded by one-half of the Gordon Biersch duo, so this show feels like a homecoming of sorts.

Oct. 14 @ Rudy’s Can’t Fail; Emeryville, CA; Sat., 5:30 pm - 7:30
Emeryville was nicknamed “Rotten City” by Earl Warren due to its gambling and prostitution establishments, the former of which is represented today by Oaks Card Club. Of course, Rudy’s is neither a gambling house or den of iniquity; it’s a family-friendly dining establishment, and I’d like to think if Earl Warren were alive today and spent an evening listening to original songs on clawhammer banjo while tucking into tasty comfort grub, he’d change his tune about Emeryville.

Oct. 13 @ private show; Albany, CA; Fri., 2 pm - 3
Private show in Albany. I’d love to let you in, but it’s a “members only” situation.

Oct. 10 @ HopMonk Sebastopol; Sebastopol, CA; Tues., 8 pm - 8:30
Doing the feature spot at HopMonk Sebastopol’s weekly open mic. A lovely stage and a host that takes the time to dial in everybody’s sound. Also a lovely town, worth a little bit of a schlep if you haven’t been. Let’s face it, the North Bay is borderline idyllic.

Oct. 1 @ Kensington Circus Pub; Kensington, CA; Sun., 7:30 pm - 9:30
I hadn’t heard of Kensington before, either. Nestled north of the Berkeley Hills, there’s a roundabout that seems to function as the town hub, with the lovely Kensington Circus Pub serving as the watering hole for those in the know.

Sept. 30 @ Way Station Marin; Fairfax, CA; Sat., 1 pm - 4
Splitting a 3 hour set with guitarist Michael Velasquez. Mike plays a telecaster and layers loops on loops and uses pedals to create cool instrumentals, both originals and covers. Got a bit of an ethereal bent at times. In contrast, my recent addition of a touch of reverb to my banjo feels like a large step for me.

Sept. 2 @ Rudy’s Can’t Fail; Emeryville, CA; Sat., 6 pm - 8
When I lived in Emeryville in 2019/20, Rudy’s was a regular night-owl dining spot. Breakfast served all day + beer + decaf coffee? Perfect for a late night writing session. Anyways, the 6 pm start time for this gig isn’t too late, so you can wash down an evening omelette (omellette(sp?)?) with a beer, listen to some acoustic music, and get back home before bed time.

Aug. 26 @ Way Station; Fairfax, CA; Sat., 1 pm - 3
A two-hour solo set in Way Station’s certified-as-lovely beer garden on what I’m sure will be a glorious Saturday afternoon. Eat BBQ and quaff beverages while listening to intriguing and inventive songs accompanied by banjo and/or guitar. Never been to Fairfax? It’s nice.

July 22 @ Way Station; Fairfax, CA; Sat., 1 pm - 3
Playing at Way Station's certified-as-dog-friendly beer garden on what's forecast to be a beautiful afternoon (water only for the dogs please). Eat Marin County's finest BBQ and beverages while listening to intriguing and inventive songs accompanied by banjo and/or guitar. Never been to Fairfax? It’s nice.

June 28 @ HopMonk Novato; Novato, CA; Wed., 8:30 pm - 9
Doing a 30-minute “featured performer” slot at HopMonk Tavern Novato's weekly Wednesday open mic. Show starts at 6:30, my set forecast to start at 8:30. Good beer, good food, good sound...lotta generally good stuff going on.

June 24 @ Mantra Wines; Novato, CA; Sat., 7 pm - 8:30
Doing a 90-minute solo at lovely Mantra Wines in Novato. Come hang out and listen to music while lounging on sofas and quaffing on Mantra's delicious vinos. If you notice an extra lil' sumpin' in my clawhammer instrumentals and folk standards, it's most likely the vapors of the vibes I absorbed during an invigorating week of music camp and festivities in Grass Valley.

March 17 @ Freewheel Brewing; Redwood City, CA; Fri., 5 pm - 8
Playing St. Patrick’s Day with Paddy’O Ferniture at Freewheel Brewing in Redwood City. Beer, food, jigs, reels, etc.

2022

Dec. 29 @ Rockwood Music Hall; New York City, NY; Thurs., 10 pm - 10:45
Bryce Druzin making his NYC debut, playing original songs on banjo at the Rockwood Music Hall.

Oct. 29 @ Freewheel Brewing; Redwood City, CA; Sat., 6 pm - 8
Playing with Paddy O'Lanterns at Freewheel Brewing in Redwood City. Fresh cask beer, food (fish and chips / mexican right next door), costumes, jigs, reels, oxygen...what-more-could-you-ask-for?
